Strategic Conflict Management for Professionals Module 1
Strategic Conflict Management for Professionals Module 1 is an intensive two-day training programme conducted by SAL-SMC to learn the foundations of interest-based mediation which focuses on the disputing parties’ interests and encourages a broader range of solutions.
You will learn about the nature of conflicts and the most effective techniques to manage them. These fundamental dispute resolution strategies can be applied in diverse situations to manage work relationships within an organisation or with external parties, or to build stronger and more effective teams.
This is a highly interactive training programme with role plays and exercises. Anyone who is interested in acquiring mediation skills, including lawyers as well as C-suite executives, professionals, managers and other executives who want to advance their professional skills, should attend this training.
Participants will be able to:
- Learn to uncover parties’ interests
- Apply structure to the mediation process
- Facilitate outcomes that are acceptable to both parties

CPD Points
This is an SILE Accredited CPD Activity.
- CPD points: 15 Public CPD Points (7.5 Public CPD Points for each day)

Applicants who require CPD points should input their Admission as Advocate and Solicitor Number (AAS No) when registering.
Participants who wish to obtain CPD Points must comply strictly with the Attendance Policy set out in the CPD Guidelines. For this activity, participants are reminded to sign in on arrival and sign out at the conclusion of each day of the event in the manner required by the organiser. Participants must not be absent from each day of the event for more than 15 minutes. Participants may obtain Public CPD Points for each day of the event on which they comply strictly with the Attendance Policy. Participants who do not comply with the Attendance Policy on any particular day of the event will not be able to obtain CPD Points for that day. As an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), this training programme is accredited and is subsidised by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
Company-Sponsored
Course fee subsidies and absentee payroll funding are available for employers sponsoring employees who are either Singapore Citizens or Permanent Resident. Company-sponsored trainees who wish to claim programme funding must comply strictly with the funding guidelines set out in the SSG Terms & Conditions. For more information, please click here.
SkillsFuture Credit cannot be used for company-sponsored payments.
Self-Sponsored Individuals
Course fee subsidies are available for self-sponsoring individuals who are either Singapore Citizens or Permanent Resident. SkillsFuture Credit can be used for payments.
Please note that SMC courses do not fall under the SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career) tier.

All Singaporeans who are 25 years old and above may also use their available SkillsFuture credit to offset their course fee.

Participants who would like to become an SMC Accredited Mediator must:
- complete both Strategic Conflict Management for Professionals Modules 1 and 2 within a 2-year period; and
- pass the Mediation Skills Assessment (MSA) within 2 years of completing Strategic Conflict Management for Professionals Module 2.
Please note that passing the MSA will allow you to describe yourself as an SMC Accredited Mediator. This does not mean emplacement on SMC’s panel of Mediators (only those who pass the MSA with a distinction will be invited to be empanelled).
Those who want to further their mediation practice by becoming internationally certified, may then apply to become a Qualified Mediator with the International Mediation Institute. Only participants who complete Strategic Conflict Management for Professionals (Module 1) after 1 January 2019 are eligible to be considered for this application.
