Adjudication Accreditation

The course will be useful in helping participants follow the arguments and submissions made during adjudication proceedings. Learn the common issues and basic principles governing the law of construction contracts in Module 1.

In Module 2, participants will learn more about the Security of Payment Act. Upon successful completion of both modules, participants may be considered for appointment as an adjudicator Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC)’s Register of Adjudicators.

The Selection Panel will review all applications received. Candidates must fulfil the following: 

  • Attend a course on law relating to construction contracts e.g. Adjudication Accreditation (Module 1), and pass the assessment;
  • Attend a course on statutory adjudication e.g. Adjudication Accreditation (Module 2) and pass the assessment;
  • Successfully undergo an interview conducted by SMC; and/or
  • Satisfy other requirements as set out by SMC

Pre-requisites

An applicant must:

  • Hold or have held a senior position in any firm, organisation or professional body;
  • Have at least 10 years of experience in, or relating to, building and construction industry in Singapore;
  • Possess a degree or diploma in architecture, building studies, engineering, environmental studies, law, planning, real estate, urban design or other qualification as recognised by the Singapore Mediation Centre;
  • Be qualified to practise in Singapore (for applicants who are architects, engineers or lawyers)
  • Be of a good character, and must be not be convicted of any offence; and
  • Not be an undischarged bankrupt

Exemptions

The Adjudication Accreditation (Module 1) Commonly encountered construction law issues is a pre-requisite to the Adjudication Accreditation (Module 2) Security of Payment Act adjudication.

Exemptions apply for participants with any of the following:

  • Admitted to the roll of advocates and solicitors in Singapore or
  • Other qualifications as approved by SMC’s Construction Adjudicator Accreditation Committee (for clarification, please email to smctraining@sal.org.sg)
  • SkillsFuture Credit Scheme

    All Singaporeans who are 25 years and above may also use their $500 SkillsFuture credit (or any part of it) to offset their course fee. For more information, please click here.
